What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture
A partnership between the local farmer and the community.
Our farm offers a certain number of “shares” to our members, of our vegetables and fruits and it may contain other items such as eggs, herbs, or flowers. Each week the members receive a bag/box with a variety of produce that is ready for harvest that week. An email is sent prior to delivery as to what products will be included that week as well as handy recipes and storage information for those items. Eggs may be included.
Member Benefits:
1) Eat fresh, nutritional, flavorful food
2) Exposure to new varieties of vegetables with cooking information
3) Meet the farmer that actually grows the food
4) Make requests for specific items you would like to have added to your share
Farmer Benefits:
1) Payments are received before start of growing season to purchase seeds, etc.
2) Meet the people who eat what they grow.
Community Benefits:
1) Keeps dollars local
2) Supports agriculture investments for the future
Keep in mind that there are always risks involved in farming and the weather can be very unpredictable.
